Hello All,
Turkey, dressing, Christmas gifts and family get-togethers. What a wonderful time of the year. Iknow I find myself starting to get stressed about mid-month November. However, now I have made myself a promise, “I will enjoy every minute available. There are many people who have serious problems and time issues or distance restraints. Mine are small and it’s my choice to be in the season or not. This year I chose excitemenet, fun and joy.” Shall we all join in this attitude – HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
We are having our Thanksgiving Potluck on Nov. 14, 2009. The Center will provide turkey, potatoes, gravy and dessert. Please bring a side dish to complete the meal at 1 PM.
December’s Potluck will be a Holiday Party. Everyone bring your favorite dipping dish, seasonal dessert or salad. We will spend time having fun, singing Christmas Carols, etc. at 1 PM.
One of our regular Art members, Doris Artz, is having her Art Showing at the Clark Center the entire months of November and December. She will be present to answer questions Nov. 21 at 2-5:30 pm and December 12, 1-3 pm. Come out and support Doris, she supports us.
We will be starting a new program in January. The name “Senior Lifestyle Changes” is the title we have put to this time (open to change.) The plan is to have a variety of things. Laughter, gardening, exercise, movies, travel, or any other subject that gets the attention of the members. Help us launch this new activity on Jan. 13, 2010 at 10 am. Bring not only yourself but any ideas asx well. Pricilla Ko is anxious to meet our members.
We have a very special Front Desk Chairperson in Barbara. Fitzpatrick. She knows what needs to be done and makes everyone feel appreciated. Please take a minute and give her a big smile or thank you. It takes volunteers like her to keep the place running. Thank you Barbara : ) !
Many others add to the list of volunteers to make it all work. Too many to name them all.
This year again as we did last year we will be taking a holiday break from Friday night Bingo beginning Nov. 27 until Jan. 8, 2010. This is a much needed rest for our Bingo workers. They have been dedicated to Friday night for the entire year. Thanks Gang and Happy Holidays to you.
This will be my last Chairmanship of Friday night Bingo. We need to find a Bingo crew who are willing to devote time and energy to Friday nights to take my place. We need volunteers to head up and be responsible for what is needed to run Bingo. I will not let you figure it out for yourself, I will train you. We need people to call back winners, sell, and someone to be a Bingo caller. This does not mean you are on your own as I will help. But you must know this is a volunteer job, gratis, and you must be bondable.
If we don’t get this covered, we will need to drop Bingo because I will not do it after Jan. 2010. Five years is a long time not to have any Fridays off. I have enjoyed it but I must make other arrangements.
We had a few people step up to help with the purchase of shades. Thank you very much!! And then I was told the Kiwanis have decided to do a fundraiser to raise funds for shades. What a nice surprise. We must support the fundraiser.
We are already seeing that the parkinglot needs to be resealed soon before it starts to break up and become very expensive to repair. Always something. Do you know any paving people : ) ?
In case I didn’t mention it before the Pismo Moose put the new flags up for us in time for Labor Day weekend. They have taken the Central Coast Seniors as their project to keep new flags waving over us. Be sure to thank them if you know them. Thank you!
We got the electrical plugs taken care of with a discounted price from Wayne’s Handyman Service. Thank you Wayne for being a good neighbor in these times when people putoff having jobs done. Their loss our gain. We might want to remember the name when we need jobs done at home. 709-2908.
I hope your enjoying your favorite games, etc., and I want to thank you for being so quick to take theidea the Art Group started and raise your fees. Makes a great difference. Thanks to All.
This is the time of year we begin looking for interested people for board members. Do you know of someone who would be willing to put a few hours into being on the board or are you interested? If so, please let me know. January is the beginning of a new term.
I want to wish you all a very happy holiday season. Enjoy yourselves and your loved ones.
Happy Holidays!
