Years ago “blogs” had a lot of publicity as online diaries mostly for teen-agers, but a lot has changed since then. For instance, the Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal have blogs now. Today major newspapers and organizations in the business world all have “information blogs” where readers can get daily updates.
New to using blogs? Need help? Here are some tips.
The “ABC’s of Blogs” – Blogs are often updated daily so check back frequently for new information.
- There’s room for readers to click and add comments. Comments are thoughts which readers add about the article posted above the particular comment.
- Sometimes people confuse comments with emails. Emails are private but comments are part of the public internet.
- To use the blog simply scroll down and the most recent posts, or articles, will be visible first.
- Use the blog search box on the right hand side of the page to search on the blog for topics
- Categories are listed at the bottom of the posts, and useful links are on the right hand side.
- To increase the size of the text click on the small picture of a magnifying glass in the lower right hand corner of your screen.
- When you’re done reading this intro click on the back arrow in the upper left of your screen to return to the regular blog.
- To start your own free blog you can go to wordpress.com, google blogger, or choose from other blog software.
- This website-blog was designed and written for free by Kristi Gott, a volunteer at Central Coast Senior’s Center. The software and hosting for the blog is free at wordpress.com.
