Hello Everyone,
Graduation parties are in the air. What a wonderful time of the year for not only the grads but also the parents and grandparents of them. Some pretty exciting accomplishments in twelve or sixteen years, or even more for that matter.
I have family and friends that are completing college courses in the later years of their lives and I admire them for the determination. To be able to stay focused on studies is a marvel. I hope you have someone that you’re seeing complete some higher learning in your family or friends.
At last month’s Potluck Bev Batson was the winner and she so generously donated back to the center her winnings. Thank you Bev.
We have 55 Alive this month June 9th and 10th. You will need to contact Larry Lindsey to get into the class. Class size is limited. Please call Larry Lindsey at 481-8561 for an appointment.
Wood carvers meet every Monday morning and have fun carving out interesting images. Is this something that you have thought of doing? Come join the group. It is very low-keyed and you learn from each other.
Women’s Senior Yoga meets 10 AM on Mondays and enjoys each other’s twists and turns. A wonderful way to stay limber and in shape.
Of course we still have Senior Bingo meeting on Monday afternoons at 1 PM. As you know, the pots are directly related to the size of the group. Fun to get out of the house for a few hours and spend time with Bingo minded friends.
Tuesday finds our Art Group meeting at 9 AM to visit and check each other’s work and skills. This is a self-taught class but all are willing to help each other. Maybe a good time to check our your own skills. You just might be surprised what you can do.
Also on Tuesday afternoon you will find the Pinochle players bidding each oher out of the hand. A really fun game and if you are interested give me a call and I will set up a time for you to make note ofthe way we play here. As you know, every house has it’s own rules and bidding. May be just hething to put your mind on pleasant thoughts and join the fun.
Of course Lline Dance is a very big item here at the Center. Corkey Cota teaches all level of classes and keeps the troupes dancing Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Give her a call to see if you are missing out on some good exercise and music. She is always ready to teach a dance. 489-4169.
Bridge Group meets the first and third Wednesday. Lilly Brennan is the person to see about playing. 473-0218.
I understand the Bunco gang is having some prety interesting pots and lots of laughs together. They get the dice and bell going at 12:30 on Thursday afternoons. Come on in and join the ruckus, always room for 1 more.
And of course we have our main fundraiser, open to the public Bingo on Friday nights. The pots have been getting better and better. Of course it is dependent on the size of the crowd what the pot plays. Check us out! Doors open 4:30 and games begin with the horse race at 6 PM.
I want to thank Dee Stewart for her volunteer work on the desk…She keeps the front desk chair filled with willing people who answer the phones and help visitors. Thank you Dee for a job well done. You managed to keep it all together and running for us. THANK YOU! Enjoy your trips.
A new face has so graciously agreed to take over the process. Come in and meet Barbara Fitzgerald on Thursdays. She is looking forward to meeting you and hopefully finding interested people who can give a few hours of time each week to sit at the desk and answer the phone. This is a very important job and we seem to catch ourselves short of volunteers this time of year due to illness or travel. Please look into your calendar and see if you can help us. We really need you.
This month on Saturday June 13 we will be having a POTLUCK AT 1 pm. Roast pork loin, scalloped potatoes and dessert will be furnished by the center and all you will need is to bring a side dish or pay $8 for the meal. There will be an auction and a 50/50 drawing. It all moves fast but we have fun. Come on down. Be sure to get signed up at the desk.
Have a wonderful June and enjoy all the activities.
Respectfully,
Betty Milne
